The following pages give details of the restoration process for the loco - this includes the wheels, frames and everything that sits on them - except the cab and the power unit which are dealt with separately.

Jobs already complete :

The loco was stripped down in late 1997 / early 1998. It was taken off its wheels at the end of 1998. Repairs to the frames included re-riveting (in places), neddlegunning and repainting. The final drive and hornguide alignment was checked and adjusted as necessary.

All pipework has been cleaned and repainted (old paintwork removed, bare metal exposed, then primed, undercoated and glossed). The carden/drive shafts and Voith transmission unit received the same treatment.

The cooler group has been flushed out, repainted and radiator elements refitted. The SERCK (radiator fan) system has been overhauled.
